I've always been leery of buying Icon stuff because my work environment eats tools, you can't buy individual tools at the store. I had heard rumors you could buy individual icons though never looked into it.

I had some time today and dug into it. Individual icon tools exist with very reasonable pricing.

I believe you call them up with the part number and order over the phone.

Here's the actual parts list with part numbers and pricing for individual icon tools. It's a little clunky to find things on the list though they are there.

It looks like it's a lot easier to replace lost and modified icon tools than buying a whole set to replace 1 lost socket or wrench.

You are correct, you just call and give them exact tool part number or give them tool set part number and then the size you want to buy

Isn't anyone breaking sets on ebay yet?

I don't think you could technically list them as new, but....

Not sure it would be worth it unless you were buying discounted sets missing a piece. I just randomly grabbed pricing on the metric jumbo wrench set, buying individually it's $83.75, the set goes for $79.99

I was under the impression HF will exchange an individual tool in store, pulling the replacement from a set and putting that set on clearance as missing pieces. Am I wrong?

If you warranty one yes, If you loose/ modify one I don't think they'll pull one out of a package to sell to you.

Fair enough. That makes sense.
Does anyone know if HF will sell an individual tool if you're not replacing an existing tool you purchased?
