Source for inexpensive universal joints or fab ‘em?

I’m going to add a car power window motor to my snow thrower so I can change the direction of the deflection chute but I need one or two u-joints - not high torque but not pot metal either

Any recommendations for a source or should I just fabricate what I need? Any suggestions for a good design?

Yes. I've used 1/2" and 3/4" square drive universal joints for projects. (And u-joint sockets.)

I've used cheap 1/2" drive U joints to attach a small trailer to a mountain bike. Worked great.

Here's a pic of a 20 ton air over hydraulic jack I made into a roll around using a 3/8" square drive universal for the control rod.

That's an option, but anything bigger than 1/4" drive would be too heavy duty for this.

Maybe something from a bigger size RC car or helicopter?

1/4" drive flex sockets are inexpensive and probably the easiest thing to find, I suspect RC parts or something from McMaster-Carr would work but would cost more.

I helped my dad with his SnowHogg doing the same thing. His is mounted to his ATV so I picked up a rear window motor out of a 4Runner and wired it through a DPDT momentary rocker switch mounted under the left hand grip within easy reach of the thumb. Direct drive through a coupler we made kept it simple.
