Any good books for help with boiler plumbing?
I understand the basics, but wanting good info on pump sizing, pipe sizing, best practices on component placing, etc.
I have 2 diesel fired boilers I've converted to burn used oil that I'm setting up in a connex that will feed hot water to the shop and eventually future house.
Shop has a floor heat system to ill put a heat exchanger. Used oil boilers as main heat (nearly free heat) and the existing nat gas mid/con boiler as backup. ($1500 a year for heat).
The boilers are 90mbtu, using 2 so have one as a primary and the 2nd to kick in if needed for more heat or can shut 1 down to clean, etc. I've actually ended up with 3, but don't expect I'd need that much output.
AFAIK that btu rating is easily changed (within reason) with how the gun fires too, so they can be like 150k btu... or 60k btu.
I've done alot of work on 2 systems over the years, but the layout was already there... like used 1" pipe on 1, the other was 1.25". No idea how that was calculated.
