Pricing things out. Some pretty odd sizes, but I can trim to fit. So far, I've looked at Grizzly and Lista. Any others?

TIA...

I'm planning to build a new workbench from the Grizzley tops and leg kits. Never thought of looking at Lowes for butcher block though. Now I know what I'm doing for lunch today :)

Theres a building material recycling place near here, sometimes they have bowling alley chunks, might be worth looking through the yellows.

Or my father-in-law has a bar in his basement that was made out of an old shuffle board table, its about 4" thick and 12' long, can't imagine what that weighs.

Me, too.

Before buying from Grizzly, check out the reviews of these tops on Amazon. Some people have found the tops to be not level, damaged in shipping, etc.

Lowe's is where I got a big hunk.

I stopped at Lowes today after work, but they don't sell any. The only way to get a BB top from Lowes is to order one from the kitchen design area. I priced them out with the guy.... $4500!! And they're 1-1/2" kitchen tops, not the 1-3/4" industrial type.

Grainger has laminated real maple tops in 60x30, 72x30 and 72x36 all are 1-3/4" thick. $200 to $300 each. Edsal brand name, Grainger numbers 4TW44, 4TW45 and 4TW47. They also have some complete metal legged workbenches with the butcher block tops that are 96 long and 30 or 36 deep. Grainger numbers are 4TW82, 4TW83, 4TW30, 4TW32.

Unfortunately, all the tops so far are not big enough, well some of them are...

I need:

88-1/2" x 33"
103-1/2" x 32"
88-1/2" x 28-1/2"
105-1/2" x 32"

The 100"+ tops are the ones I can't find.

I found this place, but they're not returning my email.

I bought a Seville workbench from Sam's Club a while back for under $200. It came with a thick real maple wood top, 72" x 24". The bench is identical to the Gladiator bench. You could buy one and throw away the base just to get the top so cheap.
