I'd like to get one of these but they're discontinued and none on eBay. Anyone know of any other maker of something like this?...

No longer made. I'd like to get a couple too but they have been discontinued. I know of no substitute. The reason could be a safety issue. Electric sanders all have a brake to stop the rotation of the pad. These do not. That could be the reason.

I haven't purchased one so you I'll hope someone else will verify this, but I believe Dynabrade manufactures orbital heads for sime of their sander and grinders that would work on a typical 5/8-11 angle grinder arbor. Other pneumatic tool manufacturers who make sanders and grinders likely do the same. You'll have to check the arbor connection since some manufacturers may use M14 or M10 or some other drive size on different models. I wouldn't be surprised if the Milwaukee part had actually been manufactured for them by Sioux, since some Sioux tools used to be manufactured by Milwaukee or share parts.

I came across this Dynabrade part while looking fir something else.

The Dynabrade conversion seems to work on any buffer with the correct arbor size, note the RPM limitation though(3200), so this isn't for a typical angle grinder.

I have to ask why you wouldn't just buy a dedicated RO instead for the price.

I have one of those that came with a NOS orbital sander. The grinder body was DOA and don't want to fuss with it anymore. If you are interested in it send me a PM.

If you don't use a random orbit sander frequently, keeping an adapter around gives you the random orbit option while minimizing space.

Also, if you keep multiple angle grinders around, you can simply switch the adapter to a different grinder if the grinder dies. With a regular random orbit sander you would either need to keep an extra sander around.

The adapters also use pads that are interchangeable and available in different sizes.

These aren't for standard angle grinders(3200rpm).

A regular RO sander is actually less than the adapter unless you can find one cheaper than the Dynabrade.

I can use any pad that adapter uses on my PC RO, and potentially more as there are quick change adapters that you couldn't use with the adapter.

Really depends how much you use, and depend on one regarding the spare value. I bought my PC RO when they came out 20 years ago, it is still going strong, and it has polished a lot of cars.

OK so you're going to spend $168 when you can buy a very high quality Bosch sander for that amount of money. We're getting a little crazy here.
