Looking to upgrade a compressor with some stainless steel hoses to replace the plastic ones from the tank to the pressure switch and from the pressure switch to the regulator/manifold.

I don't have the exact length at the moment (probably between 12-18"), but I am looking for standard air hose size (3/8 hose, 1/4 NPT fittings), preferably both male.

As stated something like the Parker Store could make these. You probably want female JIC swivel fittings. They are numbered in "eighths". So a #3 JIC is basically a 3/8" ID. Then you also need JIC-male to NPT-male adapters. These will be available also in the Parker catalog in Brass, Plated Steel, and Stainless. I usually opt for the zinc plated low carbon steel for the high strength (= high pressure rating, would be sufficient for ~2ksi hydraulics) and the lowest cost. The SS-braided hose will also have a Teflon liner.

You might also consider a normal hydraulic hose. It will likely be cheaper and be suited to the higher temps you could get out of the compressor outlet. I would choose one of the more flexible varieties, like you'd use over a sheave on a forklift mast. As you probably know, the normal 2-wire stuff is pretty stiff and may not bend as short a radius as the classic copper connector pipe. But, there is more flexible hose for apps above, and if you can talk it over with someone knowledgeable or spend time researching their hose catalog you can get the right stuff.

Aeroquip type hose and fittings are available at Summit, Jegs, Speedway, or any number of online hot rod shops.

The tools to assemble the hoses to the fittings are available there too.

Some of the differen't brands won't be interchangable, but it is pretty well spelled out in the catalogs

Why? The original plastic ones are more than adequate for the pressure your compressor will generate. Spend you money on something that matters.

And are you looking for braided stainless (which is just a rubber hose liner) or solid stainless tube? If the latter, any place that sells hot rod brake plumbing parts can supply them.

They are actually numbered in 16ths. A #3 hose would be a 3/16., #4 is 1/4, #6 is 3/8, #8 is 1/2, #10 is 5/8, #12 is 3/4, #16 is 1".

Try Ebay. I have gotten some Swagelok hoses off of there for a reasonable price.
The other option might be the stainless water supply hoses. i believe they are rated for 1500 psi.
