I don't have an answer for you, but a question with this question. Does snap on not replace damaged handles on their tools?

Those are the hard plastic handles, mine has the softer rubber handle.

BTW, if its the contours you want just buy the cheapest Williams screwdriver set off of amazon and yank the shank out. If the it's the Snap On name you want, use a higher conductive credit card.

Snap on hard handles are the most comfortable handles I have ever held in my hands, soft or hard, even better than quaLity euro grips. Man, you're high maintenance.

If you buy harbor freight ratchets you can install these handles on them and sell them for big bucks on ebay. PM camarotoolman he can tell you the best way to do it.

I think the snap on website is difficult to use but when you find the ratchet you have there is a tab that has related parts to the ratchet and it will have a link to that products page. That's how I always find the related pieces of a tool. Unless it has changed recently.

Just add a "g" or "o" at the end for green or orange.
Also, when searching Snap-on's site you have to change the search from "Tool Catalog" to "Repair Parts"

Boil the handle and it will come off a lot easier. Boil the new handle and it will go on nicely as well. Pay attention to the alignment before you install the new one. I generally boil the old one for about 4 minutes, I do not put the hole ratchet in the pot, just the handle. When the water starts boiling I also toss the new one in the water and leave it in there until I have the old one off. Try and get all the water out of it before you put it on. Adding salt to the water does not help, don't ask why I know.

I'd just cut that old one off. Probably just as easy. Boiling the new one like Strouty suggested makes installation much easier.

The only reason I boil my "old" ones is because they are new and just the wrong color. My Snap On driver gives me some credit for the old ones as long as they look new.

I just had new handles put on two ratchets today. My snap on guy put the wrench in a vise, tapped the old handles off with a small prybar and a hammer, and then tapped the new handles on with a deadblow. No problems. If I were doing it at home, I'd probably use the hot water trick and maybe some WD-40 when putting it on.

Sorry to thread jack, but Anyone know if the black/red comfort handles are interchangeable with the hard colored handles?

No need for the WD40 if you do the boiling water. The handle slides on great. You will probably have to tap them on another 1/8" the next day. I use a soft faced dead blow for that. When my dealer swaps them I always cringe seeing the chrome in the vise. He will put a rag around them but that doesn't make me feel any better.

One more thing, I find 4 minutes for quarter inch drive, then add at least 30 seconds for each size increase from there. Also use gloves both the handles and the ratchets get way too hot to hold bare handed.

The SO dealers I've dealt with will replace fubar'd handles, done it a few times over the years with my screwdrivers.

Part # is listed several times in this thread. Order from Snapon online or call if you don't want to mess with warranty.
