Source for these "spring" clips?

I assumed these were a "spring clip" but maybe they go by a different name as my search foo wasn't finding me much that was visually similar.

It's a die from a crimping tool. Hard to find so I was going to cnc mill something. I was hoping to find a COTS "clip" that was similar to the one pictured, I can drill the holes.

Else I suspect I'll have to learn how to bend spring steel which I was hoping to avoid.

The clip is 1/2" wide and 1-1/4" long (0.015" thick) but just two fairly simple bends. Not sure what is the best material to use? McMaster has 1075 and 1095 spring steel strips in 1/2" x 0.015 of course way longer lengths than I need so $$$

There is usually some option I'm not considering so I figured I'd ask here.

Thanks. I think I saw those when I was searching. It seems (to me) they'd need as much re-bending work as starting from scratch with spring steel strip, but maybe I'm not thinking about it correctly?

Look at that metal banding material from shipping crates, that may work.

You can heat spring steel to cherry red to shape it. If you know the exact type of steel you can look up on the web how to temper and harden it after you've shaped it. My guess is quench in oil ( but warm oil ie: toss some hot metal in first to bring the heat up), then toss in a toaster oven at 400 for 1/2 hour for example.

McMaster Carr will give the exact description of the steel so you can look up the proper way to treat it.

You can make those clips from the metal strapping used to strap heavy machines to a pallet. Make the "W" section first then punch/drill the mounting hole to match, last. Always use a vice. Those clips will catch on a drill bit and rip your fingers to pieces.

lots of steel strapping still used for heavy stuff. albeit not as much as years gone by .

Put some away when you find those straps. I have a supply of various widths for future projects.

Have you checked woodworking supply shops? I recently reclaimed some wooden table leaves and they had similar looking clips. I think, in my persistent packrat fashion, I hung on to them so I will look and see if I can find them to take a photograph.
