First I want to thank Jorgen and mostly Jennifer from Racedeck for all their help.

I have a pioneer built 24'x40' pole barn that I finished the inside with studs, insulation, and OSB. I put a ton of work into the inside and wanted a floor to look just as good.

I was concerned with the possibility of the "clapping" sound from the floor so I bought 2 rolls of polypropoline landscape fabric and laid that down first.

I ordered my racedeck on Monday afternoon and Jennifer got it to me by Friday by 4:30. I had my wife, 3 little girls, Dad, and Brother over to help.

With my OCD I had to center it and then cut both sides so the cut work was more then normal. But with all that said and done we were done in 5 hrs.

The next morning I had my buddy Steve come over and install some black rubber base molding.

Finished Product.

Looks great!

I am also considering the base board molding as well. Based on your pictures, you installed the base board molding after you installed your Racedeck flooring correct? Did the the small lip of the base board molding cover the expansion gap between the wall and the tiles?

I was thinking of installing my base board molding first but then noticed the curved lip which is about 1/4" so I would need to account for that when measuring out my floor.

It did cover but mine is a bit different then most. I held my 3/4" OSB up off the floor like 1/2" to 3/4" so my racedeck I held like 3/8" off the wall but it can go under the OSB even more then that if it has to.

I just left the small gap between tile and walls alone. No molding, etc. However, I am not at all **** or picky about stuff like that, and I do have friends who are, in a big way. I have had my floor down for several weeks and I do not even notice the gap unless I happen to intentionally look at it. If I did bother to put molding up, I would notice it even less.

By the way, the main area is all Free-Flow tile and we've had temp's ranging from 45 F. at night and 85 F. daytime; there is some expansion/contraction, and it is pretty minor. I haven't bothered measuring it and am not likely to. It is a lot less than I actually expected. But the expansion thing has not been an issue in my installation.

Thanks! Now I have to figure out how to start working on it. It's looks so good I'm afraid to do anything.

Jamie,

Wow, it looks great! I'm about ready to pull the trigger myself on Racedeck. I'm also leaning towards the coin pattern like you. Did you consider the diamond pattern at all? Also did you consider Tuffshield? My garage is much much smaller so the premium would not be as bad. The nice woman on the phone also said that with enough lead time, they could get the coin pattern in tuffshield.

Your thread turned up when I did a search for South Jersey. I was looking for someone in the local climate to share their experiences. How is it holding up so far?
