Hi, I'm Steven, Living the life here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
I'm a sub-typical redneck in that I don't own a single scrap of realtree camo, and can't stomach yellow beer, but I have lived here most of my life.
I've come across The Garage Journal several times over the last year or two, while 'googling' various pole barn ideas and getting a feel for how to lay out everything in advance before having poles delivered, just to rot in the weeds.
I'm the worst kind of do-it-yourselfer in that I have a sick and twisted past of learning things the hard way before being willing to ask for help or guidance, but I've really come around, as of late. That kinda explains why I'm here...
I'm sketching out ideas for something in the range of a 40x50, monitor style pole barn. Something I can use as both auto/welding shop, an area for wood working tools and cabinet areas, and a bachelor's quarters in the loft area (a.k.a. my bride's watching her shows in the living room, need a place to go watch UFC with my buddies).
I'm still in search mode, rifling through everyone else's builds for those "ooh, I want that"" moments, but also looking for mistakes/regrets/redesigns so that I can learn from them.
I guess that'll do for now. Oh, guess I should mention the wife and I are Jeep enthusiasts, she's the purist, I'm the opposite. I lean towards building what I want, she buys what she wants, lol.
