I am looking for a machine shop to use in Ventura County or L.A. preferably in the valley, not looking for "a guy with a cnc". I am looking for a place that can put out top quality parts in a professional shop. They would be parts primarily made from Stainless, Aluminum and plastic. If they do in house grinding that would be great. If somone has any shops you can recommend, can you post them here or P.M. me.

Thank you.

Type of parts?
Tolerances?
Quantiy?
Current pricing?
Must the shop be located in Southern CA?

Depending on the above questions I may be able to recommend myself. :)

I really prefer one on one interaction when it comes to this. I will remember you if anything changes.
You would need to be able to hold a angle over 10.00 at +- 10 seconds. This would be out of aluminum and stainless.
Quantity depends on parts. It could be 1 or it could be 80. Sometimes I will want 2 parts to try for a certain period of time before placing a larger order.
Do you have the capabilities to machine a 38" plate?

We have a full time machinist and machine shop here with manual machines, I am also capable of machining parts manually. We have NC's but they are set up for other things. We don't always have time to do everything here.

Thank you, I may check them out.

Nope.
There has to a million machine shops around here but very few have the capabilities I need or the ability to inspect.
Your close, do you have anyone?

I would need a better understanding of what you are looking for but, I may have a shop or two that could meet your requirements. You can PM me if you like.

Yes, you'll have to find a shop with a complete metrology lab to ensure those tolerances are met, a service I cannot currently offer.

However, if you have any suitable manual machining or require brass, aluminum or stainless etched data plates, I would be happy to quote the job. Most of my capabilities can be seen here and are growing daily. My intention is to grow in to the high precision and large machining markets:

I've been to two shops near magic mountain and I don't remember any of them saying anything about machining titanium. I would most certainly remember that although I cannot remember the name of the shops I went to out there.

If my calculations are correct that would be .00047 in 10". I trust you know where to find a CMM that will measure that close and a machine that could machine it that close??

Yes. I have all of the proper equipment to measure tolerances closer than that. There are many machines that are capable of machining or grinding a certain angle, not all places will sign on for the tolerances I am after. Thats why I am asking people here. I have only come across one machine shop that has not turned away any of the prints I have sent them.

Something like ADT I think, altho I may be WAY off on that. It was the place that College of the Canyons used to teach machine shop etc... altho they didn't let students anywhere near where they were doing *stuff* for Lockheed.

Sent an email to a friend who works there, waiting to hear back.

Penco Precision (Fontana, IIRC) gave me cool sample part at a show a while back, so I'll throw them out there, it may be worth sending them over a drawing.

If you can't find anyone in traditional machining and grinding, try contacting someone who specializes in grinding optics. Those tolerances wouldn't scare an optics grinding shop.

Good luck.

Thank you. I work at a leading optics shop and you are correct. Those tolerances are nothing for us when it comes to optics.
