Two weeks ago I was at a local junk yard looking for some metal pieces to acomplish a work when I saw two bench drills. I was looking for something for some time and I though it was the perfect timing :D
Bought them for almost nothing (like 10 bucks both).

When I got home something caught my attention, the yellow one is a soviet tool...:scared:

I'm having a hard time to find some pics to start the restoration, if anyone have some knowledge about it I will be glad....

It looks like imgur has blocked GJ. I think the moderators are looking into it.

The label says
Saratov Factory of Heavy (teethcutting? - do not know the term) Machines
Model 2001M
Number 7211
1992 is probably year of production

I would copy the name and model in google (can use translit.ru)
If it does not help, get in touch with me. I can try to get in touch with couple of people I know from this city - may be somebody knows something about it.
PS I know this post is old, but got intrigued. I visited this beautiful city when I was a child.

The romantic hills of central Umbria, Italy,
You'll hate it, never find parts for it, the best you could do is decide it's hopeless and send it here...

EVERY time I run across Soviet tools, especially stuff like this, it totally blows me away.

A machine shop making a drill. Wow. Just the nameplate is beyond cool, add the line on the bottom (for export) "Made in USSR"...

No, you really don't want this... :D

Holy old thread, Batman! The OP hasn't even logged in since 2016.
He's probably still occupied with trying to make something out of these two heaps of scrap metal. Or one exploded and killed him (maybe the communist one). Certainly not something I'd spend what days of life I have remaining on.

Saratova is an industrial city about 200 mi northeast of Stalingrad aka Volgagrad in modern-day Russia.

The plaque reads" The Saratova Factory for heavy Cog Wheel Manufacture" more or less

A cool fact about Saratov:
The first man in Space, Yuri Gagarin landed in a potato field across the river from Saratov in a small town named Engels. There is a bridge between the two towns across Volga river which is 2.8 km long which used to be the longest bridge in the USSR when it was built. In the middle of the bridge there is actually a small island where you can swim on a sandy beach...

FWIW, Soviet era tools weren't necessarily junk. When it all fell apart, I happened to be over there. Anything in state warehouses was looted. What could be used went home and what couldn't was sold in flea markets. I bought top quality metrologic devices - micrometers, dial indicators, depth gauges, calipers, for $1 each. I'm still using them.
