Space Heater Height - Is this too low ?

I'm currently planning the installation of my garage spacer (5000W fan forced heater) and I'm not sure at what height to install it.

My garage ceiling is 10ft high. The manufacturer is recommending to install the heater at a maximum height of 8ft for optimal performance.

If I install the heater at this height (8ft), the bottom of the heater would be about 3.5in from the top of the door (see photo below - green tape is installed where the bottom of the heater would be).

Any comments ? Thanks.

I would try to call there help line and ask. I would imagine that most people using that heater have 8' ceilings, hence their recommendation.

I called technical support last week and the gentleman was indicating that with the volume of my garage (20ft x 20ft x 10ft), hanging the space heater at 8ft (or below) was highly recommended. He also recommended a ceiling fan or another space heater in case I can't install it at 8ft or below.

The electrician said that hanging the heater 3.5in above the door is not against code (or the manufacturer's specifications). I still have to double check with the city because I can't rely on the electrician to confirm if it's against code or not.

Anyone had to hang a space heater near a door ?

Thanks

You will be fine with the heater near the door. Your heater looks similar to mine, but mine is 10,000 watts. The heater blows horizontally or slightly downward if you adjust the louvers that way.
My heater is in my 30x40x12high pole barn. I have it hung 8 feet from the floor so I can feel the warm air gently blowing on me while working on projects in the dead cold of winter. I only heat my shop while I'm working on projects. It works great!
