In other words, you couldn't find what you were looking for in the NEC, so you went on a fishing expedition.

You're pathetic.

And really your an idiot. I stated my opinion and you took offense to it being considered hack work. (Guilty consience)? Why defend it so hard. Fyi I left you a code reference about your breaker lockout. For what it's worth I'll give you that you could probably hard wire, I never said that you couldn't hardwire, I said it was hack work. I never said it was an nec violation to do so. I said it was hack work.
My reference to cec wasn't to prove you wrong. It was to help a brother from the north.
Outa curiosity though. When you sleave your hard wiring g did you support your flex at both ends, leave 6" of free conductor coming out of the range? Did you ground your cover plate from your junction box? Or did you use a plastic cover and drill that out? I can keep going but it's getting nitpicky and now it is pathetic.

Where's a moderator when you need one???

Gentlemen,

I have a new range that will protrude 2 1/2" beyond my countertop if installed flush against the 2x4 interior wall.

Bummer - I guess you are going to have to go outside and cook by the campfire.
