My wife and I are in the middle of building a house. It is almost done and projected to complete right before Christmas.

Now, the important stuff.

I want to build a shop that is ~2000sq.ft. that will be where I have a lift, work on the vehicles, build a manspace/bar/entertainment, have a music jam area, etc. The question is, should I go the metal building route and then insulate for A/C OR do a traditional concrete block and hip trussed roof? What would be more economical? I am guessing that I would want 12' inside height to have plenty of room for lifted vehicles. I would want plumbing and bathroom facilities too.

Anyone here building in Fla something like this? I perused the forum for a while, but didn't see anything that was similar in my little part of the world.

Just looking for suggestions from the collective!

Thanks all!

Great house, I would try to match its materials, color, and style as much as possible. It costs a little more that way but you also get the maximum real estate increase that's possible when following this route. If you could do concrete block with stucco finish + hip roof that would seem to match best.

Modifiers for having a large property or something else that's seen regionally "all over".

Thanks Matt, I was leaning that way, but lesser expensive metal building is attractive too. The property is only about 1.3 acre, so not huge, but big enough to still have room even with the shop.

Thanks for the reply Chicken Man, I am just south of you on the Palm Bay side of Babcock just south of Grant/Eldron Roads (Eldron side). I will look into doing this as it will meet my needs and will be hella cheaper than a traditional CBS building.

Maybe we can meet up sometime and I can checkout your building. :D
