SpacePak Heating units?

So me and my friend are trying to figure out how to heat and cool his recording studio in my barn. We were thinking electric baseboard but we came across the SpacePak unit at a homeshow we are this weekend. I havent talked to the rep but will tomorrow when i go back. It looks to be an electric or hot water coil with a blower. Has flexible hi-velocity duct work which would be easy to snake into the sound isolated room and possibly into my work area . It seems like the perfect solution for out situation. So does anyone have any experience with these things? Do they really work well?

Just wondering how your conversation went with the rep at that homeshow...

Didnt get a chance to talk to the rep. We got there late and had to stay around the booth. By the time i was free, everyone started breaking down. But my friend talked to him when he was there the day before. Pretty much told him the same stuff that was on the website.

So does anyone have experience with these or any similar units?

I used to install heat and a/c systems about 15 yrs ago. We did some spacepak and yes they do work when sized properly for the job, but found that a lot of people didn't like the air noise coming from the outlets. The reason they're so easy to install is that the supply air piping is very small diameter. In air handling systems this translates into high velocity air movement and air noise. Their systems might have improved some since I last used them but the principle is the same. My concern in your buddies application is that a recording studio can't have much background noise. Ask the Spacepak rep to show you some installed systems before commiting your $$ and ask him about the noise. Depending on the size of the studio a wall unit with a remote compressor might suit better. Whatever system you go with should have a multi-speed fan and should run constantly on low speed to circulate air and kick up to a higher speed when the stat calls for ht/clg. Good luck.
