I like them because they release very easily and safely. My craftsmans just about explode when i release them. Snap-ons release slow and softly.

I have the set, LP 404, and they are great. The teeth are much harder compared to normal vice grip brand pliers.

I also have the lp404 set. Love it. and unlike alot of snappy stuff its really not that pricey. Definitely something to consider if your in the market for locking pliers.

I have changed over to Grip-On after reading Stuey's review and I think they are great.

I had a pair directly from Grip-On, and maybe it's me, but they seemed very lightweight and thin - I compared them to an older Petersen set and it was noticeable.

Kind of disappointed, TBH...

At $21.50 that's a great deal for a Snap-on branded tool. Even though they are outsourced.

I have a full set of the orange/black Grip On brand locking pliers and love them. They are better than any other ones I've ever used. Extremely well made tools in my opinion.

I would love to try these cool looking Facom locking pliers some day though. They just look amazing though, not sure how well they work.

Don’t have a garage in Arizona USA
okay thanks. I'll definitely get these when I have the funds. I have some old vice grip brand, made in the usa. The work okay but the teeth have worn out and the are more of the 'explode' type when they are released. Ouch, Ive been injured from releasing them on more than one occasion. Maybe 15. :(

Are the proto locking pliers the same as the snap on locking pliers since both are made in Spain?

Been slowly buying the red/black pliers as they pop up for sale and they are way better then my " exploding" vise grips. Looking to find the needle nose pliers now.

They are good! I have a set that is rebadged as New Holland, got them way cheaper! Proto also uses Grip-on rebadged. Gray tools in Canada was selling Grip on no rebadge at a good price, better then SO price. Shop around first. I do use Vice Grip, but older ones, before they were made off shore. Vice Grip, NOS are still out there. Anyways my advice is to find the rebadged grip on at better price then SO.

Napa used to carry some blue and black Grip-on pliers. Blue point was using the red and black Grip-on, now they are back to carrying asian made ones. I think Chads carries a line of the orange grip-on too. I just got my dad the Snap on 4 piece set plus a 7" and 10" straight jaw Grip on it came to around $125 shipped online.

Any locking pliers with a Spanish OEM and a relatively high price tag are Grip-Ons. All of the truck brands, Proto, and others use this OEM.

No reason to buy them from Stanley, as you can just get them from Grip On for the same money.

The only reason to pay more to get them off the truck is for the warranty if you're really hard on locking pliers.

And Grip-Ons are known industry-wide for being the best locking pliers in the game. They kind of run the show, so if you get a Grip-On OEM plier from any of these brands, you're doing good.

Yes they are. I have both Snap-On and Proto and both are made in Spain by Grip-On. They feel much better than Irwin.

The Grip-Ons have a better (and more intuitive) release lever than Irwin. And they've also go a cool jaw design with what I can only describe as a 'cleft' opening, which lets you grab on to any kind of round fastener head.

(Oddly, I just Googled it and can't find a picture of what I'm talking about.)

I have a set of the Snap-on's, and I greatly prefer my older, USA made Vice Grips.

I've switched to the Snap-on / Grip-on style over the last couple years. They are much better than the current Irwin offerings

I have the snap on set and I prefer the older vice grips. When I had to warranty one of the grip ons I asked for a vice grip instead in return. I will be selling off the rest of my set of grip ons.

I'm interested in buying some SO vise grips if you guys are serious about selling
