Hi all,
been stalking the forums for a while now.
I've got a nice cheque arriving next week which will allow me to update my tools, I've got some nice old snap-on tools my grandad left me, but I'd kill myself if I bent one or lost it so they're being kept as a home set.
Ive been looking at spanners, for those on the other side of the pond.. wrenches. they need to be combination first, but I will buy normal combination and stubbys as-well.
there are a few different options obviously..
There is the obvious choice, snap-on. 10-19mm for about £150 on eBay. I'd need to add the 8mm and 9mm as they are used quite alot.
There are britool set, 8-19mm for about £75 on eBay.
Then there's stahlwille which go for about £90 a set on eBay and are 8-19mm.
Other than that there is a limited amount of tools brands in the UK, there are things like sealey, draper etc but nothing particularly good, I bent 3 different cheaper brand 10mm spanners the other week...
There are also a few different options of going to boot fares, flea markets and the like and seeing what I can manage to find..
I'm not afraid of used tools, as long as I know they weren't stolen, If they're stolen then I'll take you to the police station myself.
What do you recon people?
Also has anyone had any problems with a SO T72? mine skips teeth every now and then, you can bet it's when your in a tight spot and you slip off and clatter your hand...
thansk

Dan

If it was my choice, Dan, I wouldn't think twice about those Stahlwilles; every bit the equivalent of Snap-on and half the price!

I can pretty much guarantee that if they were half the price of Snap-on here in N. America, Snap-on would be in a lot of trouble...

Dan,

I would check out Facom manufactured spanners. Facom is not as well recognized as the premium German hand tool manufacturers and the U.S. based Snap-on. A couple of months ago on eBay, I purchased a 4 piece Series 40 Long metric combination wrenches (19-24mm). It cost me $65 (including shipping) for the long pattern, satin finish wrenches. The construction and finish quality is very good and will last a lifetime of hard use.
