Matco SB13SP and VIM SPM100. It sure appears that these sets are identical, but I know what happens when we ***ume. Thoughts?

If they are functionally identical that would be good enough for me. Spark plugs are not torqued like a similar sized bolt or nut would be, you would not need the hardest metal in the universe to fight them out.

Biggest feature/advantage is how the plug is retained in the socket, I.E. rubber bushing, magnet ect, I've had sockets with cheap rubber the plug fell out of and loose magnets that cracked plugs if wobbled.

Since MATCO doesn't make anything but tool boxes, the Matco plug socket set could easily be made by VIM for Matco. VIM makes a lot of tool truck items, not just for MATCO.

To echo Fedwrench, VIM has made many a tool for the tool trucks, particularly Matco and Cornwell. VIM has even sold Matco branded tools via their 'Red Hot Deals' clearance website so your assumption is a pretty safe one. Looks like a very nice set!

Funny story, I ordered a universal oil funnel (the spring loaded kind) and some shears from VIM's clearance section and received Matco branded tools.

[Edit] I apparently can't read and dsaabm already mentioned that.

Same here, VIM is a big supplier to tool trucks.

Astro pneumatic makes some stuff for Matco, and I believe others. Only so many factorys spooled up to make "THING" at a given time on a mass production scale.

Probably the same ones. Me personally I like the kind with the boots. I’ve never used magnetic spark plug sockets.
