The couple I have either hold the plug so tight that it pulls the extension or ratchet off after I put the plug in or the rubber boot in the socket pulls out. Is there a decent spark plug socket that dont give me fits?

Do the higher end truck brands not pull the extension out when you use them? It's for this reason I bought locking extensions. Don't have a problem anymore.

I just periodically give a light squirt of silicone lube on the rubber insert of mine, not too much but a little bit and it still holds the plug in place but comes right off with the extension.

The best spark plug sockets are without a doubt the snap-on magnetic socket. It's a thin wall socket with a magnet, no more stuck extensions! Just as a reference I have just about every other brand (hazet, stahlwille, craftsman, snap-on, etc.). I personally would never use a socket with a rubber insert again!

I've not had any problems with my Snap on plug sockets using them with regular extensions.

Huh that is interesting. I figured it was all of 'em. Well, at least I only paid $17 for 5 sockets and a universal joint. You definitely get what you pay for!

I like using my set of locking wobble sockets with my SO SP sockets. No worries.

I use the standard craftsman plug sockets with the rubber insert along with my locking extensions. Works great and if the rubber part ever falls out, you can just warranty the socket.

These seem fairly interesting, how does the mechanism work? Any close up pics?

I keep two Craftsman spark plug sockets, one with the rubber and one without. The one with the rubber is used to remove the plug, then the new plug is barley inserted in the socket so I can get it started in the head. I then switch to the other socket (no rubber) to finish the install.

I have the duralast magnetic spark plug socket that I needed once in hurry and turns out to be really good, it works great and I don't think it costs that much, no more rubber rings stuck on spark plugs and so on

I didnt like the rubber inserts,so I got one of the mag.ones.I found that
they would brake the plug if rocked to get it unstuck from the plug. Than
I bought one with a small spring on the side that holds the plug. One I
think was a matco I had a MAC but the spring brock and they didnt have them
anymore but Iwas able to find they were made by HAZET.I like that one best
it is the one I use the most.
