would it have mattered which brand of plug was in there?
probably just in there too long?

I'm guessing spark plug brand doesn't matter. Problems like this are about 95% due to aluminum heads. Any brand might act the same.

I always apply (a very small amount of) anti-sieze compound to the plug threads, when they are going into aluminum heads...

You gotta show pics of the plug. I can't say what caused it without seeing the plugs....

The plugs on my 01 blazer were the original AC Delco's at 66K miles, when I changed them two snapped in two with the ceramic insulator coming off. When the new AC Delco irridiums went in they got a smear of anti-seize even htough they all unscrewed fairly easily. No point in tempting fate. I don't think brand matters a damn if they are left in too long with no anti-seize.
