The economy line from name brands were of great quality. It amazes me to compare a Sparta or Bon-E-Con economy sockets to "economy" sockets today.

I have a 3/8” drive set. I guess I’ll put them in with the other NB stuff.

I’ve got ‘em. So you’re saying that they are rare? I don’t even remember where I got them. I wasn’t aware of the NB connection until recently.

I cannot recall when (if ever) that I've seen a complete set of "Sparta" sockets listed on Ebay.
I see ratchets in 3/8" and 1/2" drive with some frequency - probably the same ones over and over because those older Kilness ratchets don't seem to sell well - but sets are pretty few and far between.

For that matter, I do not believe I have a Sparta 1/4" set!

Oldtuleguy - Yes, he did. A very nice one, for that matter.

r_olson_06 - They may be all over the place where you are, but they're certainly not in abundance on Ebay. The only Sparta I usually see there is 3/8" and 1/2" ratchets.

Since CRTDI has become a bad influence on me I found myself buying a box and ratchet to go with my 3/8” drive sockets.

Somewhere we had a lengthy discussion about regional differences in availability of selected brands in the second-hand market. In some cases it can vary widely from one area to another: d42jeep seems to have no problem at all finding Plomb and Thorsen, other members (from the other side of the country) make comments to the effect that they never see it.

Some brands just never had good market penetration in some geographic areas - Walden and Mossberg are almost never seen here in the second hand market, for example.

I bought this 3/8 set with my employee discount at NAPA in the late 70's. I don't think it's been used (or cleaned) for ~ 25 yrs. I likely have a few more pieces around somewhere

It's available for sale or trade.

Nice looking Sparta set. I've got the same set/box, but in 'Husky'. Missing a handful of pieces, but I'm slowly filling up the box.

My go to 3/8 set has majority Sparta sockets. I've broken the 5/8 short and the 9/16 deepwell over the years, but overall they've held up great. The shorts are 12 point and the deeps are 6. The original ratchets long gone. Craftsman, wright, powr craft,Carlyle, and snap on make up the rest of the St.
