I found a sparta tool box in my local old tool store. It has a small set of 3/8 that's complete, with red socket box with label and rachet. The box said somthing about being made by New Britain. I was wondering if I could have some help understanding the brand? (The price for all of it is $25, and Is that good for the tools given? There also in very good condition, so is there collectable value?)

My understanding is it was a Napa brand at one time. Kinda like a mid-tier lower brand. Kinda like what modern day Evercraft is to Carlyle at Napa.

My very first socket set was Sparta branded that I got from NAPA around 1967.

New Britain was indeed NAPA’s premium toll line back then.

Yes Sparta was the 2nd line for New Britain and sold at NAPA, got my 3/8" set in 1964 at NAPA was in the Army at Ft. Leavenworth, Ks.
