This is the story of my 20x20 garage. While the real work started some months ago, and ended rather recently with a fired contractor, and being out precious time, I reached a milestone today and figured I'd start a journal about it. Today I picked up the plans for my garage! While its not going to be as bik or as nice as I would really want (then again I dont think I could pay for what I want) it should be a nice fit, in a yard that is not even 70' wide. Because of the small yard I'm opting to submit a specail permit that will allow me to place the garage inside the normal rear setback limits.
Specs:
20' x 20' with 10' walls and 2x4 construction
4" slab, with required footers
Scissor trusses, for more space
16x8 garage door, no windows, and one service door.
Vinyl siding, and 30 year shingles.
So as you can see its nothing special, but my yard is not very big (this is what I get for moving closer to a big city) and the dogs still need some place to run.
I'll try to give updates (and pictures) as they come along but it looks like the plan is something like this.
1) Next week submit special permit application
2) week after, hear that the application was accepted
3) within 90 days of #2, go to hearing and find out if the garage has been approved.
4) figure out if I can have the slab poured since its so cold out
5) figure out where I'm going to get the materials (probably 84 lumber) and who is going to build the damn thing.
6) wire it up the 100amp sub pannel in the garage without killing myself.
7) Enjoy.
