I have a home made continuity tester that has saved me hundreds of times. The wire leads are cracking because they have been wound up hundreds of times. I want to replace them with wire that is made to wind up. I am looking for wire that is either #14 or #12 , 6' in length. Any ideas? I do not want spring coil wire.

Silicone insulated wire?
You can buy it cheap on eBay. Look under RC cars for various sizes.

I you want a special connector on one end (like a shielded or stackable banana plug, you might be better of buying that test lead and replacing the opposite end.

Pomona (owned by Fluke) is the largest supplier of test leads. Their stackable "banana to banana" lead is called a "B" series. Each part number starts with a the letter "B" then a dash and a 2 digit length in inches. There may be another dash and 2 digits that indicate color (using the resistor color code). They have silicone insulation (excellent for high temp) and very fine 18 AWG stranded wire for good flexibility, even in cold weather.

Visit the ProbeMaster website. I can't use any other leads after using theirs.

I bought a set of their leads also. Just love them. Very sensitive. Certainly see the difference with my old sets. Great price also. And I'm in Canada. Bought directly from them. Fast great service!

Also know that the higher the strand count, the more flexible it will be. One nice thing about silicone insulation is it doesn't melt the way PVC or vinyl does.
