I need to put a filter on my septic tank vent and when I went to remove the cap there was a screw holding it on that looked like a torx bit, but with a little "***" in the center. So if you had the right tool the torx bit would have a hole in the center for the "***". Anybody know what the tool is called so I can look it up and order one?
Thanks,
Bobby

I bought a set of socket tamper resistant Torx from Lowe's, don't even have regular Torx sockets.

Have the O'reilley set and have used quite a bit on my atv...still have not broke any so they must be pretty decent.

There is a very common cheap set sold all over the place with a bunch of security bits for 1/4" hex type drivers. Covers multiple types, not just torx. It's a good thing to have as these little #@!%#'s turn up everywhere. There are unexpected uses, too, like the 3-way slotted tool...it is used on all sorts of Chinese toys and gadgets, and allows you to replace batteries and such for kids.

Grind the little nubbin off with a Dremel, if need be.

If you buy one of the insert sets, be sure to check it first, as the holes are off-center in a lot of the cheap ones. It may be that the holes are over-sized enough to not matter, though - I don't know.
