I just bought my first air chisel and saw there is a bunch of specialty air chisels. Maybe the forum can help explain some of them and their suggested uses and the forums best ways they use them.

Some of the strange chisel tips I found were smoothing hammer, tie rod sleeve breaker, tail pipe cutter etc. Please feel free to add other strange tips you have seen.

I have also found neat tips such as phoenix brake systems breakfree tool for helping to loosen brake bleeder screws.

Thanks,

I don't know of any manual for these things so I've just experimented. I'd suggest buying a cheap set and doing the same. Those types you find most useful you can then purchase in a better brand. Old Forge/Mayhew are good and I've read that Ajax as well as Snap-on are good as well.
I will say that I use mine more to drive things than cut. My drawer tends to be heavy towards drift/punch type bits and those cheaper bits after dulling work as drifts too.

I don't use chisels that often, but I use drifts quite a bit. I'd be lost without my 18" drift, and I think I've had a few occasions I could use one even longer than that.

Ajax Tools makes a very large amount of tools for 401 and 498 shank, they are super quality and holders and are a great dollar value made in the US on top of that.

Who has the best pricing for Ajax 0.498 bits and ball type retainer?

Does anybody know, does agax make the bits for snap on? They sure look like they could come from the same place.

Thanks for the link woody73.

I have known the most common chisels the ones you usually find in the 45 pack. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any specialty ones like some of the ones I have listed and could give an explanation of how to use it. They never come with instructions for the specialty chisels on how best to use them or where they are used.

Thanks,

I recently just ordered a phoenix systems breakfree its almost the exact same as the snap on tools moil bit.

It can hold a socket and a wrench to help break free fasteners but this one is made more specifically for frozen brake bleeder screws.

Doing auto body I have a few with hammer heads on them and I use them like crazy. I wish I knew they were THIS useful ten years ago !!!!!!

BTW these are not for light sheet metal unless you put a regulator on your air hammer.
