Speed controller on saw

Gentlemen, I use a 10" Ryobi compound miter saw to cut metal with. I've been using abrasive disks and am tired of the life of the blade and the mess. I looked into using a titanium tipped blade, but would have to slow the saw down quite a bit. I was wondering if that was achievable with a router speed controller?

I feel the motor wouldn't have enough power to cut through metal if you lowered the speed. It would probably stall out quite a bit, burn out the motor or bearings, etc. but could be wrong of course. Depending how much you use/need it, if it were me, I'd just pick up a cheap metal chop saw from HF for $100 or whatever.

That's a thought. But I like being able to cut complex angles. And Im tired of the short life span of the abrasive disks.

buy a horizontal band saw. Much nicer to use and quieter. No black dust up your nose either.
