Here's an item I picked up just because it was interesting. Can anyone here suggest an application where it might have been used? I suspect it was shop made, 300 RAY is neatly stamped.

It's definitely some kind of spanner, probably for turning recessed valves or recessed something or other.

What snaparxon and plombob said. They were very common in the 1920's and early 1930's when valve heads had two indents where those points would be inserted. This was before the suction cup jobbies. One approach was different adaptors with differently spaced points. Another approach was an adjustable attachment. All for 1/2-inch drive speeders.

Also, not shop made. Packer Auto Specialty Company used "RAY" as a brand name.

That's a really nice find.

Thanks for the help. I have seen the suction cup devices and the crank style but this is the first speeder wrench/crank style I ever encountered. Lugz, the data about Packer Auto Specialty Co. is great. The stamp looked manufactured, but that's one I never encountered previously.
Thanks again.
