Speedaire oil-less air compressor info.

I picked up two small air compressors awhile back, An oil lubricated Champion A-9 from C/L & a oil-less Speedaire unit from a garage sale. I combined the parts from both to make a small oil-lubricated air compressor that's dedicated for a scroll saw.

The oil-less Speedaire compressor model# 2z869 looks identical to the Gast 4H series compressors & the 4VSF series vacuum pumps.

I was going to just set the Speedaire unit up as a small portable compressor, But I'm curious if anyone here knows if this compressor can also be configured or converted into a vacuum pump?

Re: Speedaire oil-less air compressor info.

Kind of shocked that I didn't get any responses on this question?

After doing some more google searches on the subject, I was pretty sure the compressor could also be used as a vacuum pump. I don't have the check valves & correct copper tubing or brass fittings need! But I re-worked the inlet & out connections with some 1/4" nylon (ice-maker fittings) just to test it out.

Well I'm happy to say that the compressor works out great as a vacuum pump, It pulls -27 in.-Hg vacuum with the 3gal. tank in under 1 minute. :D

Now that I know it will work as a vacuum pump, I can get the proper fittings & copper tubing & plumb it correctly! I may even look into adding a 3-way valve & controller to make it a automatic on/off set-up.
