I have an old Speedy diaphragm compressor that I just fitted a gas engine to for pumping up tires out in BFE. I believe it's a 60's model, not sure the exact model number but a 875 looks right. It's automatically regulated to 40psi or so. Seems like I can put a stronger spring in the relief valve to get higher pressure, is there any way this could hurt the pump at all? I was planning on building a slightly larger gas powered compressor for my big truck tires that need 100psi, unless this one will do it without damaging itself in the long run.

100psi is a pretty big ask for on old Speedy.
I would also agree that asking an old pump to do what you're asking is a lot to ask of the poor old thing that was never designed to run at that pressure
keep an aye open on your local classifieds for something better suited .
doesn't your truck have air brakes? you would have an onboard compressor already !

This post on another forum suggest normal range is 24-40, based on the gauge. Other pages suggest a similar max pressure range, probably low volume too.
