Firefox spell checks for you and if it is wrong will give suggestions.

Not a techie kind of guy, I haven't a clue what that even means! :wtf:

I have no spell check capability during the workday due to security firewall, spamcheck, or whatever name they call it. Anyway I have no spellcheck while at work.

At home for whatever inexplicable reason I have a spell check function key available to me about 50% of the time. The remaining 50% of the time it will not work, hence the request.

This particular forum is hard to work with because if you open another site it will wipe out anything you have typed into this reply box. Other vB forums and servers don't do that. I have no idea why this one does.

There are times I just open notepad or something and type in there because this forum wipes stuff out.

There are spelling checker programs that can help but they may not work with this forum due to the above problem.

Check out SpellCheck.net a free online spelling checker:
http://www.spellcheck.net/

Wordweb will help check spelling and definitions of a single word but it is a program that has to be downloaded and installed.

Firefox is a browser that is more advanced than IE (Internet Explorer). There are some sites out there that have been programmed to only work with IE tho. IE and Microsoft are always playing catchup or stealup with Firefox or Mozilla.org and other web browsers while still trying to control your web experience.

hholmburg, what browser are you using? Most browsers will have a spell check that you can activate by going into the browser preferences.

Actually, I have the capability of spell check at home, however I do not have at work. Also I do not have the capability of changing things at work. I am at the mercy of the IT gods.

Ya got me, I don't rightly know! Suggest a few, that might jog my memory or something!

You've probably got Internet Explorer which doesn't have a spell check I don't think. Go to Firefox and download their browser......I know that one has a spell check for sure.

If your IT department is involved you probhably will not be able to download Firefox and install it. Installation would require administrator rights on your machine.

The spellcheck site is a web based application. Nothing has to be installed on your machine. All you do is copy and paste.

I don't know of any BB software that does that but I have been out of that area for a few years. Most people use web apps like the one I listed or browser plug-ins. BB web servers are usually overloaded enough without having to do spelling checks etc. Try the link, I used it for years.

For anyone that can download and install software another handy utility is WordWeb:
