As I watch videos on You tube about garage coatings I see installers using what appears to be athletic shoes rather than spikes. Any input on pros and cons to that?

I've used these fashion statements on 3 DIY garage floors. I picked them up for a few bucks at Goodwill 15 years ago.

I think it is OK to use this style of cleat as it is close to but not quite the pro "spikes." Here's the caveat: it works OK if you are doing a medium broadcast of flakes or full broadcast. With a thin broadcast or no broadcast, I suspect the real spikes are better.

The spike shoe bottoms we offer have pointed spikes so they don't leave marks on liquid coatings, even if they have started to cure a tad.

But..we are offering as a special on all of our Armorclad 100% solids or SPGX Polyurea Kits free spikes to GJ Members so please request them when ordering.

We are not sure what you are referring to. We are offering to Garage Journal. members upon request a free set of spike shoes which are normally not included in the smaller garage kits.

If you would like to take advantage of this please call or email us when you place your order. If there’s any other issue with your order or you need clarification as to what is included in particular kits we would appreciate if you would contact us directly at below, not PM since the GJ is not always monitored continuously and we prefer to handle any customer issues directly with the customer.

Our website also has a lot of info about our kits and tech info and instructions.

Thank you very much and we appreciate your interest in Armorpoxy Products.
