this seems to be the place people come to test the waters on new tool ideas. many of them are garbage, some are good ideas and some are just so-so.

simple question. would you spend 60 dollars on the metric set of spin wrenches as they have been promoted here. only two options because if you are undecided you are skeptical and are not likely to buy.

If they want to sell that product it's going to need to be a Ronco $19.95 special. I saw their thread and watched the vid earlier. My hats off to them for the ingenuity, but that's about it.

I don't think I would pay for one unless the head were about the size of a ratcheting wrench.

How about someone invent a screwdriver that's actually meant to pry and hit with a hammer!!
I would buy a couple of those things!

No. Price doesn't affect my vote either.

Yes I would buy them in a perfect world where everything worked as intended and every fastener was clean.

They wouldn't even get on many nuts or bolts around here, let alone remove them.

Great presentation though and good luck guys.

we will be taking down our kick starter and instead of the wand just provide a rod so you can break nut and bolt free. i will update you all with a new kickstarter once it is up. It will be cheaper and you will be able to break it free and tighten. just hold tight :) thank you all for all your input and no offence to anyone but i think this is a great idea since the overwhelming response we have had on this. our idea seems to be making people think and i think that is pretty neat. All things cant be perfect first go around but we can promise once we hit market people will be happy with the time it saves and the price point.

Damn. I didn't mean t kill you project in less than an hour. In all seriousness though. This product was just a play an the bealle? ratchet from long ago. Krusty used to have one. There was pics of it here someplace at one time. There really is very little new stuff that comes along in the hand tool world.

First off I would like to applaud anyone that comes up with new ideas.:thumbup:

Sure we have some crazy things but then again sometimes those new ideas are fantastic. In the Midwest rust is so thick you are fighting it 24/7 and the idea of busting the nut free first and then taking more steps to spin it off seems rather like a longer approach and time consuming.

Still my hat is off to anyone coming up with new ideas!

It's a cool idea. Hope is works out for you guys

But you show all the places it can reach a nut that isn't tighten the slightest bit. Now with that said the question is how did that bolt and nut get in that hard to reach spot to begin with before your tool was around. The person/company had to have a way to put that nut/bolt there so obviously it's not something that can't be done without your tool since it was already done in some way originally.

Lots of red flags here upon further review. You already have improvements to your great idea? Overwhelming response? If negativie response overwhelms you I guess it's good. Watch for the next kickstarter? Are you funding the tool or your pocket. Seems like kickstarter is turning in to that.

its neat in an "Ooh Ahh" sort of way.
I would not pay sixty for a set though.
All that said I would not mind a set in my for if the need were to ever arise.

The problem with any novel or gimmicky tool is that it may well be useful or even ideal under certain circumstances, but the manufacturer usually leaves it as an exercise to the customer to figure out what those circumstances might be. The creators of the spin wrench commit a cardinal sin by only showing the tool in obviously well crafted demo setups. I think the best thing the creators could do would be to make a video using the tool on an actual project.

Pick a car, pick a real job that an actual mechanic might do, attempt to do it with conventional tools, then do it with the spin wrench and demonstrate the value of it. Edit it tightly enough that it isn't boring to watch but not so much that it looks immaculately set up to show the tool in the best light (rather than a realistic one). In the original thread, the creator mentions that some mechanics who have tried it really liked it, so ask them what they liked using it for and show us. Or if cars aren't the best use for the tool but some other niche is, find out what it is and show us that.

Like I said, most of this discussion has been, at its most generous, "it looks neat, but what is it really better at?" Either you can demonstrate that or you can't.

currently at 77 and 2. that is an over 97% rejection rate. those two spent more time on their cube of death than the tool itself.

i honestly think the prime goal of this exercise was and is a kickstarter campaign. the spin wrench was just a way to get there.

Exactly. Too many people think u need an idea that will make you money for years to come. That is the wrong way of thinking.
Who cares if it is a gimmick. If it's a gimmick that can make them 10 million this holiday season and then fall on its face....great!!! Take that money and do something else to make another 10mil

More like a introductory special of $9.95. Perhaps Amazon may be able to provide some leverage.

Sorry, but this is a completely undeveloped "invention". It's a socket with a rubber grommet slid over it and a few feet of fishing line wrapped around it plus a telescoping roach clip to hold it. It's something a person cobbles together one time in a very rare situation, not a set of tools you'd buy and get any regular use out of.

Good luck to them but it's never going to be mass produced so I won't need to decide to buy it or not.

I like the innovative approach. (Never heard of a Beale ratchet).

My concern would be with the "hidden" fasteners we run into so often. The one's where you have to "feel" the nut and get the socket on to it without direct line-of-site.
This tool - while very interesting - seems to require visual engagement. While it seems to be able to get into restricted areas, many times those exact same areas are out of sight. I think it would be tough getting the socket onto the fastener in situations like this.

It was never realistic. Project launched on 9/28/15 with a goal of $250,000 by November of '15. :spit:

Take it easy guys. Its easy to bash someones design/ideas, its much harder to actually come up with them much less present them to the public.

Most you have never posted a single thing you have worked on.

Keep the insults to yourselves, I am sure they welcome constructive feedback.
