Looking for some help finding a socket that will fit an axle nut I have; but I'm not having any luck finding actual diminsions of sockets available, just a listing of what cars/axles they fit.

The problem is, this is for an Italian aircraft and not an automobile. Its a 4 "lug" nut, with an outer diameter of approx 1 7/8". Does anyone have a list of axle nut sockets and their sizes, or perhaps a collection of sockets that they can have a look at and see if any of them are close to the size I'm looking for?

The manufacturer of the aircraft does make a wrench, but they want over 400 Euros for it. I checked with the Snapon driver and he had all 3 sizes Snapon makes on the truck and they were all too large.

Here's a picture of the socket style I need for those wondering.

You can get in touch with the guy operation this Ebay store:

He does all kinds of sockets like this and can certaintly machine one for you if you provide the dimensions.
Had to have kind of the same socket for my motorcycle and was considering buying from him but I got lucky locally, somebody machining one for me.

Sunex has all of their socket's dimensions in the back of their catalog. You can download the pdf from their site and see if they have one that fits.

Looks like a Dana 44 hub socket. You said the SO ones were to large. Dana 44 upper ball joints use a smaller version of a similar socket. I however would be taking the dimensions to a local machine shop and having a socket made. It's a simple enough project. Heck if I had the time I'd make you one on my mill. Keith
