I fear I know the answer already but I figured I’d ask anyhow. We’re doing some backyard remolding and one of the tasks involves moving the junction box that my in ground pool light wiring goes into a few feet further from the pool. I’ve ordered a new pool light as the cord on the light fixture is permanent and can’t be made longer, this doesn’t seem to be a major thing to swap out. My problem is with the grounding wire that is mounted to the light housing in the wall of the pool. There is an 8AWG wire attached to the niche/housing that is then run inside the pvc conduit up to the junction box. I was planning on just replacing this wire at the same time as the light cord but I’ve run into a snag. The lug where the wire attaches is covered with an epoxy (per mfg instructions) that is proving to be difficult to remove. My question is this, is there any safe and code approved way to splice a ground wire such as this in conduit that is buried and will be in a wet environment? I’m guessing no, but figured I’d ask in hopes that there might be. I’ve attached the instructions regarding the light housing.
