I have my power feed to the shop run inside that grey conduit. I'm pretty sure I'm wanting to grade around the shop to help with my water issues. I would be removing about 2-3 ft of earth. The problem in that is my conduit will only be about 10" below grade. I have no problem digging it up and cutting a deeper trench. However I REALLY don't want to buy a new run of cable to feed the shop. Can I splice in the extra length I'll need? It's AL cable if that changes anything. Keith

need for shovel means it is not accessible....

If the AHJ allows it, you may be able to leave it at 10-12" with a red tape or several inches of gravel or perhaps concrete...

What is the AHJ? It is direct burial cable, I could pull the conduit off and leave it as direct burial I just ran it in conduit as dad had a bunch of it he gave me I figured better protection. I also could mount a junction box low on the shop, and just run a short section up to the weatherhead where it enters the shop. Keith

Ok, so if it direct burial cable, just cut the conduit and use an underground splice kit in the gap. Optionally, cover it with a "crypt" like a sprinkler box instead of burying it, for future accessibility.

So I just need to buy an underground splice kit fir the style and size of wire, follow directions and I'm good to go? I like the idea of putting a box around it under ground I have a nice terra cotta one I could use. Keith
