I have a wall furnace with a single 8' length of 7.1" oval Type B vent going from the furnace up to the roof. This style:

The stuff above the roof is rusty and I want to replace it. But I can't detach the vent from the furnace because it's screwed to the furnace and I don't want to open up the wall.

Is there any way to just cut the vent somewhere in the attic and splice in a new piece of vent that penetrates the roof?
