I have 60' of 1 1/2" schedule 40 pvc buried to my garage. I plan to feed it with 2 gauge MHF. I will use 75' SER indoors from my main panel to a splice box. My question is can I use 2-2-4-6 MHF which will be a little easier to pull through the conduit and spliced to 2-2-2-4 SER inside? I can't seem to find 2-2-4-6 SER. This will be protected with a 90 amp breaker, total run will be close to 150'.

What kind of loads will u have in the garage?

2-2-4-6 has a reduced neutral. If u have a lot of 240v loads and minimal 120v loads u should be good.

Thanks for the reply Wylie. I have a compressor that is currently wired to 120 but can be 240v. Maybe someday a lift or welder. It's 24x36 that is mostly used for storage currently. I have some woodworking tools that are all 120v in my basement that might get moved there.

Thanks Pattenp, I pulled 2 gauge copper a few months ago about the same distant and amount of turns. These were individual wires, I don't recall if the ground was reduced and we had trouble pulling.

The EGC aka grounding conductor aka ground wire will always be smaller than the ungrounded or grounded conductors.

No we didn't. Several times I said "Scott, you know they make lube for this." I have a bottle for mine. No wire yet, but a bottle of lube I have.
