Spline and deep spline wrenches

I am real tempted to buy either the SK 99650 or EZRRm6 sets of double box end flex deep socket metric wrenches in universal spline or 12pt. One of my friends picked up the EZRed off the SO trunk and it does a couple difficult jobs on my car pretty well, but I'm not sure I like the idea of the spline vs 12 pt.

I'm totally sold on the idea of double box flex deep (sticks out from wrench face) ratcheting, but haven't made up my mind on Spline vs 12 pt. What do you all have to say, spline vs 12 pt?

spline are better than 12 pt IMO. I have some of the MATCO branded spline wrenches and they have never let me down

Spline, I don't use them for square or e torx, but great on 12pt/6pt/worn. Couple of times used them on 6pt with an impact. Could see some light bite marks, but not near the edge.

Look at the socket shootout in the stickies. Most any of them grip well these days. Except older ones that did not have relief cutouts.

I know you are talking wrenches, but same process applies. All of my 12pt chrome are of the spline type.

I haven't had any sort of problem with spline drive on the ezred wrenches. They seem to work awfully good in my experience.

i just started putting the ez red spline wrenches on the truck. they look similar to the matco sets. so far so good. no problems with them.

I've only used my spline drives a couple of time since i got them, but they haven't done too bad of job. I still like my 6pts. better but for the time you need 12pt./spline they work fine.

Does slightly undersized spline act as a removal tool on a rounded 6 point when it is pounded on? Does that damage the spline wrench/socket much?

Never used spline in an instance where I needed to hammer them on. When worn that much, I typically either torch/cut off, or use spiral sockets.

If I didn't have a spiral nut remover thing, and I did have a cheap spline socket, I might try pounding it on, but once its rounded so much the spiral cuts and pulls the socket down on the nut. Anything else is going to tend to cam off the nut.

HF is so handy when its time to pound something on. I will also use a hammer and punch or chisel.

Thanks for the input, I'm thinking I will go with the Spline EZRED, just waiting on a sale.
