How far can you send HDMI? I want to split the CCTV DVR HDMI out in the garage to the BR and LR using the HDMI inputs on the TV's? Anybody do this before? Kinda like a security camera channel on the TV.

I have run it 30'. Wikipedia says you can go 15 meters with a Category 2 certified cable (typically 24 AWG wire instead of 28).

Quality/reliable splitters are hard to find/expensive. The cheap ones on eBay seem to work ... for awhile. Buy 2.

If you 2 TVs have different maximum resolution (say 1080P and 720P) the lower one will force the upper on down.

Cat5/6 extenders work

I have used this method to send my DTV from the bedroom to the garage using a HDMI splitter to HDMI extender ( with IR) to garage. All parts from Monoprice.com. I am looking for a way to "broadcast" HDMI from my cameras to an unused channel and can't figure it out. HDMI has copy protection in it so you cant directly down convert to analog like an old school RF modulator to channel 3 or 4. May have to use the same extender circuit to all the TVs I want to see the cameras on too. I also want them to pop up PIP when someone comes to the door.
I dont want much.LOL Good luck in your setup.

HDMI copy protection (HDCP) is "optional" and depends on the media being transferred, not the transmitting equipment. HDCP has been "cracked", but I have not seen any hacker kits for sale.

There are wireless HDMI solutions, but they are not cheap and some of them have very poor signal regen.

Probably the simplest solution

Buyer Beware : There is no such thing as an HDMI "amplifier" (assuming the traditional definition of the word "amplifier") HDMI is a digital signal transmitted using differential signaling and 8b/10b encoding.

Lots of fancy terms, but just remember anyone sell an HDMI "amplifier" is blowing smoke up you *** !
