thank you but that is not my saw. Its just a picture I borrowed to show everyone the kind of saw Im talking about. However. I will restore my saw and I will try to do so to the degree that this one is.

Blade guard had anti-kickback pawls built in on the sides that were spring loaded.

i see a lot of them on ebay for 113**** does that mean they fit all 113 models? mine is 113.29991 from 1958 date code stamped on motor and tag

just about all accessories from 103.*** and 113.*** are universal. Only difference I've seen is 10" saw accessories only fit 10" saws, 9" only fit 9", and so on.

When that saw was made nobody had ever heard of a riving knife. There is not even a riving knife retrofit for the far more valuable Powermatic 66, which was the gold standard back then. However aplitters are a different matter. If your saw has a table insert, you can modify it, get another one to play with or make a table insert. Then you just need to cut a slot behind the blade and glue in a splitter made of wood, that is the same thickness as the blade. People make inserts all the time for zero blade clearance or to add a splitter.

McFarmer has the answer. Search Microjig MJ splitter. I have used it on a newer contractor saw and it works well.

A riving knfe goes up and down but also tilts with the the blade. The European saws had it first but eventualy made it over here. I think there are retrofit kits for some popular saws like the Delta Unisaw. Otherwise, forget about it unless you are a designer with machine shop facalities. It is easy to add a stub splitter behind the blade, but just for vertical cuts.

And prevents you from dragging the board to the left when finishing the cut and getting a kick back.

Also helps prevent cut offs from vibrating into the back side of the blade and getting thrown back.
