I've met the owner and my wife's company has done business with them. There are a lot of shady operations in our area but these guys know what they are doing and are very component. They are the only ones we would call.

Thanks wssix99, I gave them a call. The salesman made an interesting comment. He said there is 15% added to the sq.ft. for doing pole barns due to the corrigation in the metal siding. I said but you only have to spray 1/2" on the girts so doesn't thst make up the difference? (I'm asking for 2" thick foam) he tried to say it takes more foam to spray the sides of the girts. I originally thought that was odd, but the more companies I've called they are saying pretty much the same thing.

Look at your chosen metal profile, then imagine that it is flatten, does the width grow 15% ? Unless the ribs are quite deep you may be just paying a 15% premium to get them to show up........

I live in mi and just built a new shop getting estimates for spray foam also. Havent had anyone say anything about up charge for steel did talk to a contractor today that made a valid point he said to put a layer of styrofoam first whether 1/2 inch or 2" doesnt matter then they will spray over that ..
He said this way if there is ever a misshap and you damage a piece of steel you can replace it spraying foam direct to metal will fuse them making repair or change near impossible has anyone heard of this

You may also find contractors who will do it less expensively, but you get what you pay for. They guys seem to keep their time commitments and do a quality job. We made a big mistake by not using them on our house and proved that with our relationship afterwards.
For the insulation to do its job, you need a layer over every surface, every side of the girts, (otherwise heat could travel more easily through them) the diagonal surfaces in the corrugations, etc. (As you get a full thickness on those diagonal surfaces, it essentially fills up the corrugations. Don't think of that extra insulation as "filling up" the corrugations and giving them a greater thickness. Think of that extra material as what is needed to cover the diagonals.) The insulation you need is a function of the surface area of the wall. The surface area on a corrugated panel is much greater than the wall area you will have if you were to put up a flat panel.

This is an interesting idea, but the Styrofoam adds expense. I also wonder if this looses some strength because one doesn't have the adhesion of the foam to the wall or if it looses some corrosion protection if closed cel is used directly against the wall surface?
I am getting quotes for closed cell foam.
I've asked about varmit resistant additives and 1/2 the salespeople I've talked to haven't heard of it or just say it's not needed. Most people (end users) in rural areas say it's a must.
Another salesman stated there are more studs (16"oc) in a stick built wall thus uses less foam compared to a pole bldg. I told him I have 6 girts; 3)2x4, 2)2x6, 1)2x8. My posts are 8' on center. So for rough math 96"/16= 6 same number as the studs for a 8' length of wall. Now with my girts laying on their side they take up more foam space than the 2x4 studs would since they are on edge. I'm starting to think this whole up charge for pole barn corrugated tin is BS.
As far as you get what you pay for, I agree to an extent. The more I think about this corrugation and the space girts take up compared to studs it looks more and more its a wash.
The more I talk to these foam people, the more I get the feeling they are trying to get me to pay for the privilege of them ******* on my shoe and having them tell me it's just raining.

This is exactly what I was told by my local contractor!
I have bought the foam and hope to install it this winter, we will see how it goes?

That maybe a good option to preserve the warranty on the metal. I built a 50 x 72 last year and was told by several contractors that spraying anything directly on the metal would void its warranty. The local Morton guy wouldn't do spray foam. He said I'd have to get that done on my own for the same reason.
