Hello everyone I'm new here and was thinking about having a metal building built. I would like to use the spray foam insulation because it seems to seal everthing up real well. I would like to see some pictures of some shops with closed cell foam in them I've seen some pretty ugly jobs and was wondering if they all look that way.

a high pressure system doesnt seem to spray as smooth as the low pressure system. but it really depends how the equipment is running as to how nice the job looks. i'll dig up some pictures.

I second that request for pics and info about spray foam. The pole barn I acquired when we bought our house is 28' x 45' and we want to insulate - at least enough to cut down on heat transfer and stop the condensation that will occur if/when we heat it (while working on a project, not continuously) Thanks!!

Ok thanks that would be great

I never take pictures while on the job because the mist in the air gets on EVERYTHING including the dude that sprays with me while he's waiting on an area to be ready to be scraped.

But we have a warm room in our warehouse that we heat and store our foam in in the winter. I will take a few pictures of that if I can't find anything from jobs that we've done.

Here is a quick, VERY crappy picture taken in a hurry (i cropped out what the picture was really for, but it shows a wall in a finished basement we sprayed 2" of Dow 2lbs closed cell).. So excuse the quality, but it shows how high pressure will lay when the guns working 100%

I had high density spray foam put in the cathedral ceiling of my house and it worked great (compared to the R-19 batts that were in there). I only have 2" x 6" rafters so my options were limited. Probably around a R-14 but it will seal up any leaks you might have.

For my new 40' x 28' x 12' tall garage/woodshop I used structually insulated panels or "SIPS" though. R-38 walls & R-41 celing. I have radiant floor heat though so I wanted something pretty tight.

That looks like it has a nice even texture unlike some of them I have seen. Than's for posting the picture.

Thanks. I told them that I planned on studding the walls afterwards so they paid close attention to the finish. -MATT

Contrary to popular opinion, I have never found it to seal that well unless the whole house was done.
