Another data point for those researching spray foam, on Wednesday it was cloudy and in the low 20's F with a 10-20 wind during the day. I went to my building around 6:30 pm and it was down to 14 F and the wind still blowing good. My building does not have any heat hooked up yet. I checked the thermostat upstairs when I got there and it was 43 F inside. I cut on my 100,000 btu torpedo heater and cut it off an hour later. It was up to 54 F inside. When I left the building, it was down to 10 F outside and still windy.

What are everyone's thoughts on closed cell spray foam under a slab? I plan to do a monolithic slab and would like to spray foam the underside of the slab then rigid board on the exterior. Figure 1" would be good, 1" usually turns out to be 1.5".

My contractor called today and asked if I'd like the new addition he's putting on our house spray foamed instead of using conventional bats /cellulose. Original plan was to foam the rim joists only

The spray guys quoted an upcharge of $500 for a 16'X22' room with cathedral ceilings.

Not sure if I'll go for it.

That's cheap for my area.
They closed cell foam they get $2/sq ft with a $1,000 minimum.

Are there any health concerns with the expanding foam? There is so much push for zero voc pain, using low voc she's ices in carpeting. Would be crazy to find out that the stuff in your walls is a health concern years down the road.

Spray foam is the best option for cathedral ceilings IMO. You can do hi density and do away with venting all together.
