I really know no better post this so i thought I would just give a go here.

I recently bought a mastercraft siphon spray paint gun (came with air tools in a set) $69.99 normally, and its not painting properly, simply paint will not shoot out of the gun, unless, the fluid output adjuster is %100 open and the adjuster knob is %100 narrow and I will get a dark thin one line spray but of course if I want a normal wide range spray it simply wont come out or very very very lightly... I cant figure it the problem. the spray gun is brand new, I followed the instructions and troubleshooting for this problem, no help and I am using the proper acrtylic latex paint and I did strain it and I did even try thinning it to no change in consistency. I do have a presssure regulator at the proper pressure

(when I spray I get air coming out instead of paint)

any leads would be appericated... I hate to return a used spray paint gun, look stupid and have to buy another one.. :headscrat

Im new to painting but I did play with the knobs and try every basic thing I could think of...

all bolts are tight all nuts are tight, air is getting to the gun just not paint.. unless its a one dark thin line. one other thing that comes to mind is the set came with a "spanner" and a "spanner wrench" but in the insturctions oddly enough it doesnt mention it once and I have no idea what it does so its currently not being used... id be happy if that was the source of the problem and could get to painting nonetheless..

Did you pull the gun apart and see if there is an obstruction. Dirt and debris has been known to be in some of these product right out of the box.

I personally wouldn't hesitate to return it to Canadian Tire, but I would get my wife to do it, she's great at that stuff.

Check the fluid passages to make sure there is no obstruction. This problem is unusual for a brand new spray gun. Does this gun have a check valve?

Is this an automotive type spray gun? Is your acrylic latex paint a house paint?

Maybe it is too thick for your gun/nozzle? Did you try to just spray water or thinner through it? That will answer my question about the paint thickness.

Try above, then check to make sure the vent opening going to the cup is clear.

I think ill be returning it tommorrow unless something pops into my head tonight. it wouldnt even spray the thinner then I took stuff apart on the gun put it back together and it hade a nice spray of thinner coming out then I put in my paint and it wouldnt spray it filttled around with it got it to do the famous one thin line spray again and that was it...

The thing about the thickness this gun says its for "automotive, farm equipment, furinture" like other spray guns do. the paint I have is acrylic latex and says it can be rolled, brushed or sprayed. so it shouldnt be the paint but who knows...

stupid question your supposed to keep that filter on at the end of the thing right? (little filter bag) cause now that I think of it when I was stranning it it was wayyyy to slow coming out of the strainer (or maybe that was normal speed I dont know never done it before) so maybe its having a hard time going through that filter just like it did the strainer and thats why im only getting a bit. I think its worth a shot without that filter?

Is it a HVLP gun? If you are trying to spray house latex it's going to have to be thinned a good bit to get it to spray.

I think you just answered your own question. The paint is too thick. When it says "for painting furniture", I think they mean stains or poly finish, not a thick latex paint.

yup it sprays water fine. the paint jams it up. I guess they should be really more speicfic on the box or anywhere in the manual "does not spray latex or dont use household paints" anything at all would have been nice! looks like Ill just use this for my automotive gun (hopefully it works) and I'll be buying another for household shooting...

As has already been pointed out any auto paint type gun new or old would need to have latex paint thinned insanely thin to efficiently run it through a gun. In fact, it is not worth the effort. By the time you have the paint thin enough you will have to make so many passes to get good coverage you may simply die of old age first! I watched my pop do that years ago, it was stupid and an absolute waste of time! Go airless.

Whats the fluid tip size? I spray extremely thick Poly-Surfacer (basicaly sprayable body filler) using a 2.0mm tip gun, and it makes a very nice fan.
