OK here is a question. I am aware that HF has a spray gun for very little monies.HARBOR FREIGHT HVLP SPRAY GUN 68843. $19/95

However,, Lowes has a similar one Kobalt 8-in Air Paint Sprayer
Item #: 301329 | Model #: SGY-AIR88TZ for $49.

Is it worth the extra coin going with Lows? I have a 15X 45 deck that is requiring a coat of water sealant. I have a 30 gallon compressor and hoses.

Any information would be helpful. I simply hate to paint with a brush. I figure spraying would be the best way to accomplish this task. I have smaller paint jobs in the near future. Thanks, Ken

I'm sure other, more experienced members will chime in with info, but in my opinion if you're just spraying a deck what you use won't matter all that much.

I'd think you'd want an airless or pump-sprayer for deck stain/sealer… also consider that the HVLP will only hold about a quart (the larger ones) and the nozzle size is generally "small".

I use a pump sprayer also for deck sealer. The HF gun is one of the best bang for the buck tools out there though.

Have you ever tried spraying a professional job with one, I am almost tempted enough cause of the price to go ahead and try it. The only thing that holds me back is fear that Id have to admit it worked well.

With the cost of automotive paint what it now is, a spray gun is a minor consideration. You can easily spend 1,000 bucks on paint. For a deck I'm not sure I wouldn't just roll it.

If you spray it with the HVLP, you will get a lot of airborne material. Roll/ Brush it on or spray with a pressure can. Possibly an airless sprayer?
