Spray painting tents? Anyone use them?

I wasn't sure whether to ask this here or in the vintage tool forum. Doing "rattle can" painting at home ranging from small parts to tool chests.

I always struggle with overspray and hanging up plastic and covering the garage floor. I often end up painting in the yard, both for ventilation and because the overspray that gets on the grass is removed with the next mow.

I've looked at these showable spray tents a lot but haven't pulled the trigger. Anyone use these and offer advice or feedback? They seem to have good reviews but there are a LOT of fake reviews with items like these.

I have noi experience, but it looks like a good idea. being only 4-1/2' tall, it would be short tho.

looks like it's just a re-purposed pop-up tent/shade. May be able to find a cheap one around local CL/FB/garage sales.

Seems like it'd be fine for smaller stuff but could be a pain to lean over and try to rotate larger items inside.

My wife has a ton of furniture projects that need painted, my plan is to set one of these up either in the shed or outside.

That's one problem I have with them. I'm pretty tall so it could be awkward to use.

Good idea, might be a way to try out the concept. Real tents are probably built better than these too.
Although not any taller, I used to tent camp and wanted "standing head room" so had to get a giant dome tent before the ceiling was over 6 ft.

I like the size and height of that better. Would work well for tool boxes.

Looks easy to assemble as well LOL.

I bought a Wagner small sized, with the slot & window for a filter and exhaust fan. I used to put up cardboard on the truck tailgate to get height for painting. Now I am going to use a repurposed Miter Saw stand, and move closer to the center of the driveway. The wind here has been so continuous this year that just a 4 sided carboard enclosed area wasn't enough. I suspect I may need to weigh this down to keep it stable most of the time.

Hope to put it to use in the next few weekends. I intend to rattle can and air brush, so want to set up the compressor for ease of use at the same time.

I have built one inside my garage using cheap painters plastic. Set it up, paint, dispose. Won't work outside, if you have any sort of wind, but inside it's good.

I have a medium homeright spray shelter (popup tent). I've used it a few times to paint some small things, but without having a way to hang the piece you are painting or putting it on a turntable, they can be a bit of a hassle.

I watch finnegans garage on youtube a fair amount and he set one up using a pop up shade tent and tarps in his driveway for priming a bunch of parts for the c10 build and was really happy with the results. May be worth checking out for you.

I built one in the garage for some larger items and it worked great (though I didn't take any pictures!!!) I hung pvc pipe from the ceiling connected with couplers and 90 degree fittings with nail in hangers. Then, just used the rings from my golf towels and some tall shower curtains. Cost very little and did the job I was looking for.

In summer months I've painted many cars, trucks, parts, etc. right outside without any type of canopy. I always had great results. The main thing is to do it as early as possible while it's calm and the bugs are asleep. You also don't want too much sun on whatever you're painting. After the paint dries I would bring them inside to dry overnight because if it gets damp overnight the finish will haze and spot. There's really no need for shelter if you're priming because in most cases it's going to get sanded anyway.
