Anyone ever tried spray painting their tools, i saw a couple post with some pictures but no idea of the lifespan of this.

Im going to a shop on monday and im bit concern about my tools. the Shop owner was telling me its just basic hand tools i need. So im thinking just to spray paint my stuff and Keep my brand name stuff at home until a couple weeks pass.

I'd try to mask off then paint maybe 2 or 3 - 1/2" stripes kind of idea and try to space them all the same. Tools seem to look real junky with an overall blast of spay paint otherwise.

I spray painted a bunch of random jumbo sized wrenches that were covered in rust. I hit them with a wire wheel on bench grinder and then experimented. Some have red Pitbull primer, some grey primer, and some have Rustoleum bed liner on them. Naturally I left the inside of the jaws and box ends primed, not bed lined. Obviously the paint will wear off depending on their usage. The few with bed liner have held up well and they feel good in the hand. Nice grippy texture.

Assuming these are all steel tools (no plastic handles etc), you can easily strip off any spray paint by using acetone incase you screw up or don't like it. If they have plastic handles, just dip a paper towel in the acetone, and wipe the area of spray paint off. If the handles themselves are spray painted, do some solvent tests on what removes the paint (probably ketone family), but does not effect the handles. Probably something like limonene, toluene, xylene etc.
