Spreader Pliers?

Are there such a thing in say needle nose?

I know with snap ring pliers you can get them where when you squeeze it spreads rather than squeezes and I have a couple of these but they don't have the right kind of jaws. Basically every once and a while I've wanted to spread things apart where pulling with a pair of pliers is just a pain in the ***.

I had a quick skim of snap on and channellock sites as well as a couple searches on amazon and didn't turn up much worth while.

these are made to get hoses of of fittings and such but i use them just as much to spread things like you mentioned. i used them alot on retaining clips inside the clutchpacks of hyundai(forklift) transmissions when i worked for a hyundai dealer. probably got more use out of it on those clips alone than i ever have taking off hoses

What about getting something like retaining ring pliers? They have flat faces on them instead of little nubs like snap ring pliers have...

how about these. they are craftsman, I forget the name but I've used them for the clips on a 4Runner rear axle. when you squeeze the handle the tip spreads. The tip is flat with knurling on it for grip. They are actually pretty stout, no flex.

I can never find it, but I bought them at the one in Sarnia. We still don't have a local on here in k-bec.

The tips on these look very similar to a Snap On pair I have.
The 70A has that same tip (except that there is a divot in each side). The 70B behind it has a reverse needle nose tip (serration is on the outside). I think that's what you're looking for.

That part number does not seem to still be made (but there are plenty on eBay), but I see pretty much the same tools here, listed as driveline/transmissions snap ring pliers:

I think the SRP3B is the same as my 70B, and the SRP3A is the same, but without the serrations.

SRP3B is what I believe you want.
SRP2B is the same jaw as my 70A.
SRP5C is a parallel jaw needle nose setup with dimpled jaws. That looks pretty sweet for lock rings.
